Cafe Waves First Day

Delicious treats at Cafe Waves

New Co-Curricular ‘Cafe Waves’ has its first run!

A new co-curricular program is making waves at Waverley College.

Convened by Ms Stephanie Boyce and Ms Davina O’Hara, eight boys had their first realistic experience of working in a cafe last Saturday.  This is part of a new food focused co-curricular program which immerses students in a cafe environment.

Cafe Waves is run alongside the Basketball Supporter Group table and serves barista style coffees and a range of cafe food items such as toasties, croissants and fresh baked muffins, brownies and scones.  This provides students with hands-on experience and will be a fantastic way of gaining the skill set needed by young people to get a head start for future employment opportunities.

So far it has been well received, with profits intending to go towards EREA charities and other initiatives to improve the school.

You can visit the Cafe on Saturdays during the Summer Sport season from 7.30am to midday.  It is located outside the eastern side of the new TAS building.

Well done to the Cafe Waves team!
