Life at Waverley

It is an exciting time to be at Waverley College. Our learning philosophy focuses on individual growth, critical thinking, collaboration and innovation which is underpinned by our wellbeing goals of developing boys who are connected, resilient and supportive of each other. Our ongoing investment in school infrastructure is coming to fruition with state-of-the-art teaching facilities across a wide curriculum offering.

In 2021, the College celebrates 118 years of educating young men. The Senior Campus provides its 1200 students with a comprehensive library, science and specialist areas, gymnasium, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, Performing Arts Centre to cater for all aspects of Music and Drama, tennis courts and cricket nets. The Junior School Campus houses 300 students in Year 5 and 6. Facilities include a library, auditorium, specialist art room and sport facilities. The College’s home sports field and pavilion is located a few minutes’ walk away at Queens Park. The school is just 5 kilometres from the Sydney CBD and a short walk from Bondi Junction.

Starting times

School begins at 8.40am and concludes at 3.15pm each day. Before-school supervision commences at 8am in the library.

Timetable

The College is timetabled into a 10-day cycle. This enables the College to avail itself of specialist teachers in the areas of Languages, Music and Physical Education. For these classes, the boys move to specialist areas within the College.

Information technology

The College operates solely with Apple Mac computers, with individual MacBook Air laptops issued to every student. New students are issued with a MacBook Air shortly after their commencement in Term 1 and will be issued with a new device approximately every three years.

Information sessions for students and parents are held to familiarise them with the device and to explain the rights and responsibilities of students, care and maintenance, and internet use and protection. The MacBook Air also comes with 24/7 telephone support provided by Apple and access to the Mac store and Genius Bar.
