From the Convenor of Track and Field, Kaitlyn Downey
Last Thursday, the 88th CAS Track and Field Championship was held out at Sydney Olympic Park. Waverley College was out in full force and ready to perform to the best of their ability. As always, the evening was filled with the highs and lows that come with being a Track and Field athlete and was an eye-opening experience for some of our younger students.
We started off the evening well, jostling for positions with Knox and Cranbrook. As the night wore on, a few disqualifications saw us slip into sixth place by six points. It was a valiant effort by all our athletes, and has inspired them to set even higher goals for next season. I’d like to commend them on their fantastic spirit and sense of camaraderie throughout the night and the season.
A big thank you needs to go out to the parents and their support of the team. We appreciate the Saturdays spent driving out to Homebush, the cooking of pasta for Carbo Night and your endless support.
