In support of the Photography and Digital Media curriculum, Year 9 Photography students will be participating in an incursion with photographer Peter Solness on Thursday, 28 July 2022.
Students will learn about Solness’ photographic practice, and build their own skills and understanding of light in relation to Photography. They will explore how it can be manipulated as a ‘painting’ technique when photographing, forming concepts and ideas for their Terms 2-3 unit.
Sessions
The incursion will be organised in two sessions:
- Session 1: 1:30 – 3:30pm (Period 5 and Period 6 – Conlon Building)
This will be a session with the photographer on the Waverley campus, to learn the skills and techniques required to paint with light. It will include time with the artist to put these initial skills into practice.
- Session 2: 5pm – 7pm
Students will walk with teachers from the Waverley campus to Centennial Park, where they will apply skills from the earlier session to create successful photographs using the drawing with light techniques as taught by Solness.
* All equipment will be provided.
*Students are to wear full academic uniform.
