Our Year 11 students have been keeping busy this term actively engaged in their Community Service placements. The students volunteer to attend a number of not-for-profit organisations in our local community, as part of the College’s Social Justice initiatives. The Year 11 program runs from Term 1 through to the end of Term 3.

Currently, our Year 11 students work in two community volunteer placements per year for a period of three weeks each. It is wonderful to see so many students willing to get involved, with many students opting to attend more than their requirement.

Participating Organisations

COVID-19 restrictions have limited the number of organisations involved this year, and we are grateful for the organisations below that have been able to accept our students:

Every year, Waverley places students from Years 5 – 11 in the da Vinci Decathlon, run through Knox Grammar School.

The da Vinci Decathlon is running in Term 2 online from 24 – 26 May, with specific year groups participating on separate days.

Seeking More Years 7 and 8 Students

This week, Year 11 Hospitality students enjoyed a fun prac creating ‘monster milkshakes.’

The emphasis was on creativity, presentation, safety and hygiene.

The students had a year’s worth of sugar in one drink!

We are pleased to inform you that our CANVAS Learning Management system is now open for Years 11 and 12 Parents and Carers, in lieu of a Term 1 progress report.

The benefit of this, is that you will be able to access assessment task results and any feedback for formative tasks in real-time, rather than waiting for a static report snapshot.

Further information on the purpose of launching this system, and instructions for access, can be viewed in the short video and overview instructions on our website.

>>> Click here to view the short video and overview instructions on our website.

Please make sure you save this weblink to your Internet browser for easy access to the login page.

For technical support, please email iAssist outlining the issue, or use the CANVAS Helpdesk, found on the dashboard of your CANVAS page.

This information was sent out on Wednesday this week via an app notification. It is highly recommended that you download the Waverley College App as all important notices and updates are sent out via the app in the first instance.

If you have students in other year groups, the CANVAS Real-Time Reporting will become live for Years 7-10 on the first day of next term, Tuesday 26, April.
