A big thank you to all parents who have generously donated their sons’ outgrown uniforms to the Secondhand Clothing Pool. This provides someone else with the opportunity to purchase a secondhand uniform well below the new price, whilst at the same time, raising funds for the College through the Parents’ Association.

We are slowly rebuilding stock levels, and are so pleased to be able to offer some more items for sale. Email us to check on stock and for the next opening time (see email details at bottom of this page).

$30 Buy Back Scheme

The Secondhand Clothing Pool will gladly accept the donation of all clean and wearable current uniform items for resale. There is a $30 ‘buy back scheme’ for the donation of Blazers and All Weather Jackets in excellent condition.

Due to current restrictions for parents, we are still working mostly through email contact (see email details at bottom of this page), and over the phone.

House Polos, Hospitality/Food Tech, Judo, Cricket

We have a variety of House Polo sizes in each House colour, $10 each, ready for the College swimming carnival.

In addition, we have for sale:

Well done to Waverley College 1st XI at the CAS T/20 Competition held at Trinity Grammar over the weekend. The day consisted of two games: the first against Trinity Grammar and the second against Cranbrook.

1st players Hirav Ghandi, Carter Steyn, William Dodd, Connor Andrews, Eddie Regan, Daniel McSweeny, Patrick Abrahams and Jack George about to head into the field at Trinity Grammar School

1st players Hirav Ghandi, Carter Steyn, William Dodd, Connor Andrews, Eddie Regan, Daniel McSweeny, Patrick Abrahams and Jack George about to head into the field at Trinity Grammar School

Waverley v Trinity

Waverley won the first game against Trinity via the Duckworth-Lewis method, as rain caused numerous delays across the day. Trinity batted first and were bowled out for 73.

Daniel McSweeny took 3/6 off 3 overs as he opened up the bowling attack. The rest of Trinity were mopped up by Hirav Ghandi’s 1/11, Sachiel Bass’ 1/9, Will Dodd’s 2/6, and a brilliant spell from Connor Andrews who took 3/12 off 4 overs.

Waverley batted second and was sitting on a comfortable 5/45 at the tenth over as the rain set in. Waverley were then determined the winner.

Well done to Jack George of Year 10 for gaining his first experience in the 1st XI. Jack took a catch on debut and I am looking forward to seeing Jack grow as a player over the next couple of years.

Waverley v Cranbrook

Waverley’s second match was against the favourite, Cranbrook. Although Waverley could not defeat Cranbrook, it was again pleasing to see the positive attitude that the men of the 1st XI continue to bring, when faced with a challenging opponent.

Waverley batted first and reached a total of 8/79. Eddie Regan showed his attacking flair, but was run out prematurely for 34, and Carter Steyn was out LBW for 15.

Cranbrook then chased down Waverley to end up 2/83 with Carter Steyn and Eddie Regan involved again to both take a wicket each. Notably, Carter Steyn was impressive in his ability to tie down and then bowl out one of Cranbrook’s representative players.

Thank you!

Lastly, thank you to the coaches Mr Kroll and Reid McNamara for their work over the day. Good luck to all teams as they prepare for their first competition game against St Aloysius’ at Queens Park this Saturday.

The Golden Boot Competition on Friday, 11 February, was an exhilarating way to start the Cadet year! The incredible energy in the Quad was a great release after months of Online Cadets. Company spirit was high, and the Company Commanders did well to bring their companies together as they competed for the Golden Boot Trophy.

Waverley College Year 11 students have the opportunity to attend the award-winning RYDA Road Safety Education workshop (COVIDSafe measures will apply). RYDA is designed for 16-17 year olds, as they begin to drive or ride in cars driven by their peers.

This workshop, which supports classroom learning as part of a broader program, provides students with the tools, habits and motivation to take action and stay safe on our roads, throughout their lives, as both drivers and passengers. Students do not need to have their license to take part in the workshop.

>>> Click here to view more information about RYDA workshops.

This is the perfect time in students’ lives to engage in this program as it addresses, in a real and practical way, the many dangers and challenges young people face on our roads.

In small groups, students work with facilitators to develop and practise personalised strategies and life skills, which will help them make positive choices, both as drivers and highly influential passengers.

The workshop combines personal stories, demonstrations and interactive activities to ensure that students are engaged during the sessions.
