Co-curriculum

Co-curriculum Update

From the Director of Co-curriculum, Stephen O’Donnell

Remember to Drink Water

Thank you to all parents, staff and students for their patience last weekend with the cancellation of all sport in the heat. Whilst it was disappointing for many, with many city-wide cancellations in a range of activities, it was definitely the right call. These games will be considered a draw for most teams. Can I also recommend that all boys take the appropriate care with regular hydration and sun protection at all times. If an athlete feels thirsty during training or a game, then they are already suffering the effects of dehydration. 2-3 litres of water per day is recommended for the average person and water is the best drink to rehydrate.

Swimming Carnival Reminder

A reminder regarding the swimming carnival for this Friday. All boys are to wear their House Shirts and PE shorts and should be swimming in the College costumes only. Boys can make their own way to and from the venue. Any student who wishes to make his own way there must arrive before 9am, unless they are competing the championship events, which means they have to be at the pool by 8.30am. If students have indicated they are catching a bus from school, then they need to arrive at school by 7.45am. The carnival concludes at around 2pm and boys can leave from the venue or catch a bus back to school by 3pm.

CAS Swimming and Diving Invitational

Please also note that on the Friday evening there is also the CAS Swimming and Diving Invitational at Homebush commencing at 6pm as well as compulsory Year 10 Supporters Duty from 6pm-9pm for the 1sts and 2nds Basketball versus Cranbrook. Year 10s in the swimming and diving squad will not be required at the basketball. The highest standards of behaviour and attire are expected at all of these events.

Surf Lifesaving Competitors

I saw a large number of Waverley students competing at the Sydney Branch Open and Nippers Surf Lifesaving Championships on Sunday and I want to congratulate all of those who took part. A reminder for any student going to the State or Aussie Surf Lifesaving titles who may require an application for leave that you need to get this in as soon as possible please.

Good luck this weekend and ‘Go the Waves!’
