Debating: CSDA final week

Debating has gained steady popularity as a co-curricular winter activity at Waverley

Debating has gained steady popularity as a co-curricular winter activity at Waverley

From the Convenor of Debating,  Cassandra Hill

Last week was the final week of the CSDA Debating competition.

For the first time this year, Waverley debaters travelled to schools in Granville and Auburn to debate as well as hosting a school from Bowral. This gave our debaters the opportunity to meet students from schools we would not ordinarily compete against.  The scope of the CSDA draw meant that the debates were both challenging and engaging.

This year Waverley competed exceptionally well with all teams winning over half of their debates. In particular, our Year 10 debaters were undefeated and have automatically qualified for quarter finals that will be held Friday 23rd June.

The boys should be proud of the commitment and effort they have contributed to debating. They have all developed eloquence in speaking and broadened their knowledge of current affairs and topical issues. Good luck to year 10.

A reminder that the CAS competitions begins term 2, week 1.
