The Annual Blue & Gold Ball – SAVE THE DATE

Friday 18 August – Br J P Lacey Gymnasium

The Annual Blue & Gold Ball returns to the Colllege this August after a 40 year hiatus (after 1977 it became a dinner dance). The Blue & Gold Ball began in 1911 and was the major event of the College’s social calendar where parents, student and staff came together to raise funds for the College Building Fund. Each year a Committee was formed and undertook the organisation of the ball.

The Blue & Gold Ball Committee for 2017 consists of the following parents, old boys and staff: Jen Divall (Marketing Manager), Vicki Rizzo (Antonio, Year 6), Kathy Davies & Mark Davies (Stephen, Year 11), Tina Fragias (Gerry, Year 11), Marty Wilson (Connor, Year 8 and Elliot, Year 5), Lisa Sullivan Smith (Dominic, Year 6), Richard Flitcroft (Mawson, Year 9, and Mackenzie, Year 7) , Linda McGuiggan (Harley, Year 11), Donna Drew (Past Parent), Rosa Nunez (Finance), Rozy Crosson (Luke, Year 5), Cooper Silk (Old Boy, Class of ’93), Craig Markham (Old Boy, Class of ’90 and parent to James, Year 12), Cindy Pether (Max, Year 7, and Oliver, Year 10), Liz Clothier (Hugh and Thomas, Year 8) and Suzy Belavic (David, Year 6, and James, Year 8).

We are putting the call out to parents and old boys to assist in the following areas:

  • the donation of prizes for the raffle, live, silent and online auctions – these could range from vouchers for restaurants and retailers to holiday and corporate event packages, jewellery, furniture, experiences
  • sourcing of catering/beverages for our event – if you have or know of any connections to suppliers/caterers we’d love to hear from you
  • sourcing of sponsorship of the event (we have sponsorship packages available for businesses who may want promotion at this event)

Feel free to have a chat with any of our committee.

Spirituality Evening

Last week saw the inaugural Spirituality Evening make a strong impact. Speakers such as Matt King, Fr Bernie Thomas, Br Bob O’Connor and Patricia Thomas were insightful and thought provoking. It was great to see parents, staff and students in attendance and the overall feeling was one of positivity.

Years 5 & 7 Grandparents Morning Tea

Unfortunately, due to conflicting events, the scheduled Years 5 & 7 Grandparents Morning Tea for Wednesday 5 April has been cancelled. Many apologies for this but there will be many opportunities for Grandparents to take part in other events within the College.

The College recognises that our Grandparents form a very important part of our College community, with many Grandparents being Old Boys and past parents themselves, so I would invite them to please nominate to receive notifications of College events that they may want to attend, our weekly “Nurrunga” online newsletter and our biannual “Wavelength” magazine. It is often our own parents who can attend College events in our stead, especially for busy working parents at the College.

Grandparents may sign up online via this form.
