From Head of Sport, Greg Elliott
Corey Spiteri of Year 12 competed last Saturday in the NSW Senior School Boys Fencing Competition in Foil.
Corey had reduced his training from four days to two this year due to working on his HSC, so his expectations for his performance in the competition were not high, especially as a total of 60 athletes were participating. Corey fenced well throughout a day that started at 10.30am and finished at 5pm with corey walking away with a bronze medal for third position.
On Sunday 21 May Corey competed in the Open category of the ‘President’s Cup’, finding his form to make it to the final and finish with a silver medal. Corey was Proud to represent the college at this event.
The State Under 17 competition will take place next weekend and Corey will also fly to Adelaide for the Australian U23’s and Open Competition. His aim is to gain enough points to join the u20s Australian team next year, and we certainly wish him well.
