Despite the wet weather, it’s been a fantastic week full of learning, growth, and fun here at Waverley College. Our students and teachers have shown great resilience and flexibility in navigating a week of rain, adjusting plans while keeping spirits high and the energy buzzing.
Year 6 students took part in a highly valuable session with Elephant Ed, where they explored important topics around puberty and respectful relationships. These sessions are designed to support students during a key stage in their development, equipping them with knowledge and tools to navigate adolescence with confidence and care for themselves and others.
Adding to the excitement, students were immersed (quite literally) in the fascinating world of science during a special incursion. Inside a giant inflatable dome, they explored the concept of space and astronomy in an interactive and engaging environment. This immersive experience brought science to life and sparked curiosity and enthusiasm among our budding scientists. Thank you to Mr Mancinelli for organising such an engaging incursion for our students.
Our co-curricular and Winter Sport photo day was another highlight of the week, capturing the many teams, groups, and activities that make up the rich tapestry of life at Waverley. A sincere thank you to Mr Wachtel for the careful planning and coordination that made the day run so smoothly. These photos are a wonderful way to reflect on the teamwork, dedication, and spirit of our boys across a range of pursuits.
Following the Year 6 Allwell testing, our students managed to squeeze in their 100m sprint trials in preparation for the upcoming Athletics Carnival. A big thank you to Ms Sparks and our staff for their coordination and to the boys for their determination and grit.
Weeks like this highlight the strength of our community, the quality of our learning experiences, and the commitment of both staff and students to making the most of every opportunity, rain or shine.
Father’s Day Mass
Our Father’s Day mass will be held on Friday, 5 September – Midday at Mary Immaculate Church.
Fathers, step-dads, uncles, grandfathers and special men who are like fathers in the lives of Waverley College students, are invited to accompany their boys to a special Father’s Day Mass in honour of fathers everywhere.
BBQ lunch will follow, which will be held in the Junior School.

Hoodies
I would like to remind everyone of the expectations around the wearing of the co-curricular hoodie. These hoodies are designed specifically for training sessions and Saturday sport. Students are not permitted to wear them to and from school, during the school day, or underneath their sports jacket.
All students have been reminded several times of this expectation, and the consequences that will follow if they do not follow this rule.
We appreciate your ongoing support and understanding as we work together to maintain a sense of pride and uniformity in how our students present themselves.

We offer all students in Year 5 and Year 6 the opportunity to receive free additional support after school for the completion of home learning tasks. The afternoon sessions also provide a quiet, supervised study space for students who want to complete their assigned tasks.
Home Learning Club operates in the Learning Hub from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm – on Mondays & Wednesdays, and in the 6 Gold classroom on Tuesdays & Thursdays.
The club runs during the school term unless there is a scheduled Professional Development meeting or school event and the club will be closed.
Procedures
Only register his name once to allow other students the opportunity to attend. The session is limited to 20 spots. There will be a roll call to ensure attendance.
Students are required to stay for the full session unless there is a message in the student diary requesting early leave; a parent’s signature will be required.

An important note to remember: if afternoon training sessions are cancelled, unfortunately, you cannot send your son to Home Learning as an alternative plan, as students are registered for the afternoon sessions in advance, and the capacity is always reached. Avoid messaging your son during this period unless it is urgent.
Co-curricular Update from Ms Sparks
I am pleased to announce that our Athletics Carnival permission slip is now live for you to acknowledge in the Parent Lounge. Please read the attachment carefully.
At our 6 Indigo Assembly on Monday, 4 August, students will be spoken to about the permission slip and given important information they will need to know on the day.
Our House Captains will also have an opportunity in Week 3 to meet with their House groups and go over tactics, strategy and House cheers! We are looking forward to a wonderful day out.
