City 2 Surf
Despite the dreadful weather, our Waverley team had a fantastic day at this year’s City2Surf, with 94 runners raising an incredible $10,917 for Running for Premature Babies.
The event saw our wider RFPB community raise $153,000, funding lifesaving equipment for sick and premature babies.
Fundraising pages remain open for a couple more weeks for anyone who would like to contribute: Donate here.
Book Week guest author
As part of our Book Week celebrations, we were delighted to welcome author Jeremy Lachlan to speak this week. Jeremy is an award-winning children’s author.
He shared the fascinating journey behind his popular book series, discussing where his story ideas originate, the steps in his writing process, and the challenges and joys of being an author.
The students were brimming with curiosity, eagerly asking Jeremy questions about his characters, creative inspirations, and what it takes to bring a story to life.
A huge thank you to Jeremy for sparking imaginations and inspiring the next generation of storytellers and authors!
Year 6 Retreat Day
Our Year 6 students will soon take part in their upcoming Retreat Day, beginning with a special Mass at Mary Immaculate Church. Following the Mass, students will head to the Senior School for a variety of engaging activities centred on leadership and community. Selected Year 11 students will also join the day, contributing to activities and sharing their own leadership experiences.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our Year 6 students to reflect, grow, and strengthen connections with both peers and older students. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this experience will have on their journey as emerging leaders.
Father’s Day Mass
Our Father’s Day mass will be held on Friday, 5 September – Midday at Mary Immaculate Church.
Fathers, step-dads, uncles, grandfathers and special men who are like fathers in the lives of Waverley College students, are invited to accompany their boys to a special Father’s Day Mass in honour of fathers everywhere.
BBQ lunch will follow, which will be held in the Junior School.

Co-curricular Update from Ms Sparks
Athletics Carnival
Due to the weather, our Junior School House Athletics Carnival unfortunately had to be cancelled this Monday. We are working on a fun, Athletics-based House event to replace it in the coming weeks. In the meantime, well done to the students who attended the Qualifier event today in order to trial for the IPSHA Athletics Carnival.
Basketball Stars
Marley Fuller has been competing at an extremely high level of Basketball lately, including Nationals representing NSWPSSA. The team came fifth and Marley did an extraordinary job supporting them and representing not only Waverley but his state. Well done, Marley!
During the winter holidays, Marlon Hair competed in China at an International Youth Basketball Tournament representing his club team.
Congratulations to Marlon on being selected to represent your team and yourself at such a challenging level!
End of Winter Season/Clubs Commencing
Now that Winter Sport has concluded, students may want to take on Home Learning Club, Fitness Club, or another after-school commitment that encourages movement and an alternative to screen-time in the afternoons.
Reading, drawing and playing games or sports with friends is another way to spend time that would usually be spent on school training.
Please keep an eye out for App posts that contain each Club details.
