Despite the constant rain throughout the week, our students and staff embraced the challenges with resilience and positivity. While the wet weather limited many outdoor activities, it also encouraged creativity in classrooms and highlighted the strong sense of adaptability within our community.
Afternoons provided valuable opportunities for students to further their learning and wellbeing. Our Homework Club continued to support students with their studies, offering a quiet space for focus and assistance when needed. Meanwhile, the Fitness Club allowed students to stay active and engaged, even when the weather kept us indoors. These programs are proving to be a wonderful way for students to balance both academic and physical growth outside of regular class time.
All in all, it has been a week of turning challenges into opportunities and making the most of every moment, rain or shine.
National Health & Physical Education Day
On Tuesday, 2 September, our Year 5 students will be taking part in a special co-educational event with St. Catherine’s School to celebrate National Health & Physical Education Day.
This day is designed to highlight the importance of staying active, working as a team, and enjoying movement as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Year 5 students from both schools will come together in mixed groups to take part in a rotation of 45-minute sessions filled with fun and inclusive physical activities.
At the end of the day, students will make their way to St. Catherine’s Performing Arts Centre to hear from two special guest speakers in a Q&A session, where they will share their life experiences and encourage students to embrace healthy, active lifestyles.
Date: Tuesday, 2 September
Time: School hours (8:40am – 3:00pm)
Uniform: Full sports uniform
What to bring: Water bottle, recess, and lunch (flexischools orders as normal)
This event is a fantastic opportunity for our students to build connections across schools, celebrate National HPE Day, and experience the joy of movement.
We are looking forward to a wonderful day of energy, learning, and fun!
Year 6 Retreat Day
Despite the wet weather, today our Year 6 students took part in their Retreat Day, beginning with a special liturgy in the Senior School. Following this, students engaged in a variety of activities centred on leadership and community. Selected Year 11 students also joined the day, contributing to activities and sharing their own leadership experiences.
This was a wonderful opportunity for our Year 6 students to reflect, grow, and strengthen connections with both peers and older students, as well as their House. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this experience will have on their journey as emerging leaders.
Pre-loved, Pop-up Bookshop
A huge thank you to all the families who donated books for the pre-loved, pop-up bookshop.
It was a very busy & successful initiative, with many happy customers!
Writing Workshop Year 5 & 6
Writing a story continuously is a fun and engaging way to work collaboratively, constructively, critically, and creatively.
The Year 5 and Year 6 students demonstrated impressive writing skills, particularly when working under the pressure of time constraints. Working in groups, the boys collaborated by dividing tasks such as writing, editing, and designing the front covers, showcasing strong teamwork and a wide range of skills.
I am looking forward to reading the finished stories and sharing them with the boys.

We offer all students in Year 5 and Year 6 the opportunity to receive free additional support after school for the completion of home learning tasks. The afternoon sessions also provide a quiet, supervised study space for students who want to complete their assigned tasks.
Home Learning Club operates in the Learning Hub from 3pm until 4pm – on Mondays & Wednesdays, and in the 6 Gold classroom on Tuesdays & Thursdays.
The club runs during the school term unless there is a scheduled Professional Development meeting or school event and the club will be closed.
Procedures
Only register his name once to allow other students the opportunity to attend. The session is limited to 20 spots. There will be a roll call to ensure attendance.
Students are required to stay for the full session unless there is a message in the student diary requesting early leave; a parent’s signature will be required.
