CAS Sevens

On Saturday 25th March, the CAS held its inaugural CAS Sevens competition at various venues across Sydney. Waverley did have a number of positive results with our 13s and Opens teams winning all their games. The 14s and 15s both had three wins from the four games, and the 16s had two convincing wins with two very tight losses.

Thanks to all the players and coaches who took part in this entertaining event. Thanks also to the referees, particularly Mr Richard Chen who organised the officials at Queens Park.

Internal Trials

All players not involved in cadet camp and not selected in the CAS Sevens were involved in Internal Trials. The standard of rugby was high at such an early point in the season. Furthermore, there was an enthusiastic vibe evident throughout all age groups.

Unfortunately, we did see a few injuries. A number of these were, unfortunately, head injuries/concussions. On behalf of the Waverley Rugby Community I would like to wish all those players a speedy recovery. I would also like to encourage players to wear headgear during games.

Trial vs Riverview (Saturday 1st April, 2017)

On Saturday 1st April, Waverley College will have a trial against St Ignatius College, Riverview. All players, including those students at cadet camp, will be required to attend these fixtures.

Team lists will be communicated to players at training by the age group coaching staff. For those students at cadet camp, team lists will be placed on noticeboards at camp as well as on the Waverley Rugby Team App.

As we are still at a very early point in the season, teams listed will not be set for the season based on teams selections for this trial round. Ensuring students are correctly graded is a process which does take time. Our aim is to ensure all teams are ready for the CAS competition which commences at the end of Term 2.

Training – Week 10, Term 1

Please note that there will be no training sessions to be held on Monday 3rd of April, due to the Parent/Teacher Interviews which will be taking place from 8:30am until 6:30pm.

Training will continue on Tuesday 4th, Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th of April, to ensure teams are well prepared ahead of the trial round against The Kings School in Week 1, Term 2 (Saturday 29th April).

Our 1st XV will also be playing The Southport School (TSS) on Wednesday 5th April, in the afternoon (after school). All parents and friends are very welcome to come and watch this match, which will be the final team run before the boys head over to New Zealand for the 2017 Rugby Tour.

Waverley to Win!
