From the Director of Junior School, Anthony Banboukjian

Prayer for the Week

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Church’s season of Lent. It is a special time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving for Catholics.

The forty days of Lent end with the season of Easter, the most important time in the Church’s calendar.

Through prayer we prepare for Easter and Jesus’ Resurrection by becoming closer to God.

Fasting reminds us that many people in the world live without food for good health and many people go to bed hungry.

By giving alms we show our commitment to justice and take real action to make like better for our brothers and sisters in Christ.

As we move towards the season of Lent, beginning with Ash Wednesday this week, help us to continue to make the right choices and to take genuine action to help those in need.

We ask this in memory of Jesus your Son

Amen.

Project Compassion

With the season of Lent upon us, the boys at the Junior School have been asked to make a personal contribution to Project Compassion. Their donations to Project Compassion allow Caritas Australia, the Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, to work towards a more just and fair world, where the basic human right for food is met and sustained.

Names on all clothing and gear

Lately we have been faced with the problem of boys misplacing their uniform after getting changed for training. Can I please ask that your check your son’s uniform to make sure he has not inadvertently taken another boy’s clothing home with him. Thank you as always for your support.

Can I please stress the need to ensure your son has his name on all his gear – it makes it far easier to return any lost gear.

Good Luck

We wish all the boys heading off to the State Nipper Championships at Blacksmiths Beach on the weekend all the best of luck as they represent their respective surf clubs. It is great to see so many boys actively involved in their local community.

IPSHA Swimming Championships

Next Tuesday March 7 our swim team competes in the IPSHA Swimming Carnival hoping to make the team to compete at the CIS selection competition later in the term. We wish the following boys all the best and hopefully next week we can report on some great results:

  • Cooper Gee
  • Will Sweetman
  • Oscar Bennett
  • James Dyson-Merwe
  • Jack Kerves
  • Jules Cibej

Wellbeing

The new wellbeing model is in full swing at the Junior School. It has been interesting watching the boys get to know each more, especially across year levels. Some houses celebrated Shrove Tuesday in a very special way, in particular Quinn house who shared some yummy pancakes this morning – many thanks to Mrs Rollins and Ms Fitzgerald for organising a real treat for the boys.
