Library Events Term 4

From the Library Technician, Aaron Speed-Johnson

So far this term, the Senior Library has hosted two events to celebrate literacy at Waverley College.

The Waterford Preschool attended the Senior Library’s annual ‘School Readiness’ Storytimes, where books on the theme of starting school were read to them. They listened eagerly to titles such as ‘Countdown to Kindergarten’ and ‘Wiffiy Wilson Goes to School’ and Cooper O’Donnell from Year 10 volunteered his time to share with the Pre-schoolers about his first day of Kindergarten.

Then the Senior Library hosted a series of lunchtime events to celebrate International Games Week 2019. This event has been set up to raise awareness of the social and educational benefits of play. Staff and students of Waverley College enjoyed activities such as testing out discovery mode in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, a living museum that allows the students to explore and learn about Ancient Greece and spending a relaxing lunch away from their computers playing a wide variety of board games.

The Library looks forward to hosting these successful events again in 2020.
