NSW to continue pen and paper NAPLAN in 2017

From the Director of Learning, Elizabeth Watson

The NSW Board of Studies has announced that NSW schools will continue with pen and paper NAPLAN in 2017.  Further information about when NSW will move to NAPLAN Online will be provided in Term 1, 2017. Regular updates will follow over 2017 as the three NSW school sectors and BOSTES continue planning to ensure that all our schools and students are ready for NAPLAN Online.

In preparation for the move to NAPLAN Online testing, the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) has released a series of sample online assessments for students, teachers and the public to access. The Demonstration Site allows schools and students to interact with the assessment platform and to become familiar with the interface, test item types, and functionalities available for use during the tests.

NSW schools, including Catholic schools, will continue to be involved in research studies and platform trialling ahead of the transition to NAPLAN Online, and schools and students are encouraged to access the Demonstration Site to ensure that the move to NAPLAN online will be a success for all.

To access the sample assessments, and for further information on research studies, testing and technical specifications, visit the Online Assessment section of the NAP website: https://www.nap.edu.au
