As the Year 10 Service Week and Camp in Weeks 7 and 8 were unable to continue this year, the College has revised the scheduled activities in line with current COVID restrictions. The revised schedule is outlined below.

We have organised a variety of presenters and activities that we hope will help develop your leadership skills and that you will find both enjoyable and challenging. Should COVID restrictions change in a way that necessitates a change in activities, we will send through a revised schedule.

Please check carefully the activities, requirements and dress for each of the days to maximise these opportunities.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me at swalsh@waverley.nsw.edu.au

To assist all students in their return to face-to-face learning this term, Heads of Department and their teams have carefully reviewed the assessment task programs for students in Years 7-10 in accordance with NESA guidelines. Students were scheduled to sit examinations in Weeks 5-6, but this has now been adjusted with the following considerations:

Please rest assured that Heads of Department have also worked with each other to ensure a balance across the expectations for tasks due in the same week.

Students should reach out to their teachers, Heads of Department or Heads of House if they need any support with the assessments that are due.

All Year 10 students attended an online session by Elevate on Wednesday 13 October on Time Management. This was a valuable session to support them with their preparation for Term 4 assessment tasks and the transition into Year 11.

The session guided students on finding the time to study by building a weekly planner; prioritising work, particularly study notes; building tips on efficiency of work and how to combat procrastination. All students received a booklet of resources to assist them with their learning from the session.

The Public Health School-based Vaccination Program has sent our College some information in regards to the vaccinations that are scheduled for Tuesday 26 October, 2021. Please see the communication from our local public health unit below:

We are currently reviewing the school vaccination clinics impacted by the extended lockdown.

At this stage, students are not required to follow up with their GP to receive a catch-up vaccination.

We will be in contact with you over the next three weeks to advise of rescheduling arrangements moving forward.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

Please note that this is not related to any COVID-19 vaccines. This is in regards to the annual school-based vaccination program for Year 7 and Year 10 (catch up doses). As soon as we hear more information, you will be notified.

Bookings are open for the Years 7-10 Parent / Teacher /  Student Interviews to be held on Monday 19 July from 8:30am-6.30pm. This will occur through the TASS Parent Lounge.

The interviews will run in two sessions: 8.30am-11.30am and 12.45pm-6.30pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, both sessions will now be conducted online via Zoom.

Zoom codes will be sent out prior to the session.

In order to have staff available to as many families as possible, interviews will be of five minutes’ duration. To make the process as efficient as possible and to minimise lost time, we are requesting that you don’t make consecutive bookings and leave at least a five minute gap between your bookings to allow time to move between meetings with the teachers.

Please ensure that you make bookings with your son’s main teacher in instances where one period is taken by another teacher.

Details on how to login to the Parent Lounge were sent to all parents in Term 1. The link to the parent lounge is below.

On Wednesday, Year 10 students received an email to their school email account with the link and password to the Edval Timetable Program to complete online subject selection.

Subject selection does not have to be completed until Thursday 22 July, after the Parent/Teacher Interviews early next term.

Changes to subjects selected can be made online by logging in again up until 22 July, but will require a new confirmation form to be printed and handed in.

Confirmation of selection forms can be left in the box outside of Ms Lamonica’s office on the first floor of the administration building on Birrell Street.

Any students considering doing a TAFE option will still need to select 13 Units of study at school and make an appointment to see Ms Knowles on the first day back next term as these applications are due in early August.

Click here to access the University Admissions Centre (UAC). Here you will find a number of interesting and relevant publications regarding ATAR calculation, HSC course selection and university courses to be offered in 2022.

If any student is considering applying to do both Extension Mathematics and Extension English in Year 11 you will need to come and speak to me before doing your online subject selection.

If you wish to do Extension Mathematics you must select Mathematics 2 unit of 3 unit as your mathematics course as well as Extension Mathematics.

The Year 7-10 Semester 1 Report will be available today for you to view and download on the Parent Lounge in TASS.

This report provides an overview of your son’s performance in Semester 1 for each subject including: A-E grades for the focus subject outcomes, at least two recommendations and commendations outlining suggested targets and areas of strength for your son, Learner Profile grades and a mark plus cohort average (mean) based on his assessment task(s) for each subject completed up to this point.

Further information about how your son has performed in his cohort is available via the Parent Lounge Analytics. This area provides a box and whiskers graph that allows parents to view the position of their son’s mark in relation to the rest of the cohort in each subject. The box and whiskers plot indicates student groupings by quartile and median.
