Internationally Educated in partnership with Revolution Prep will be offering a practice digital SAT. Taking full-length practice tests under timed conditions is essential preparation for the official test. A proctored practice exam will help you build testing endurance, provide insight into the types of questions asked, and give you a real-time snapshot of your testing performance.

When: Saturday 12 October 9:00am – midday AEDT
Where: Online
Who: The digital SAT practice test may be taken by students in Years 10, 11 or 12.
Why: Sitting the digital SAT practice test under timed conditions provides more exposure and familiarity to the test which can be used for admission purposes to many US universities. Even in a test-optional environment, a strong test score may support your application well.
Cost: US$20. Your registration includes a personalised score report available directly after the test and a 30-minute scheduled one-on-one score review session with a Revolution Prep Adviser who can assess specific strengths and identify areas to focus on for improvement.

Registration and additional information can be found here.

On Friday 16 August the Year 11 Studies of Religion II cohort participated in an Interfaith Depth Study Immersion.

The first session was dedicated to three workshops at the Sydney Jewish Museum. Here, the boys engaged in the Ethics and Othering Program related to the Holocaust, ongoing antisemitism and the effects still being experienced in contemporary society. They were then privileged to witness the account of a Holocaust survivor, their legacy and advice to future generations about the importance of non-violence, kindness and forgiveness.

The Jewish Immersion was consolidated by a guided tour of the Museum which explored historical events experienced by victims and survivors of the Holocaust and the atrocities they endured.

The second session was dedicated to visiting places of worship throughout Sydney’s CBD.

The boys were challenged with the Amazing G/Race.

They travelled in groups to places of worship including the Great Synagogue, St Mary’s Cathedral, St Patrick’s Church, St Andrew’s Cathedral and the Buddhist Centre where they were tasked with research and timed challenges.

Overall, it was a wonderful day spent with 130 boys and nine staff, ultimately enriching the boys in their knowledge of Sydney’s religious landscape and enhancing their understanding of the religious diversity on their doorstep!!

Your son will attend a workshop at Waverley Council Public Library for Law Week.  Law Week is an annual event and we are pleased to partner with Waverley Library for this event.

Legal Aid representatives will be featured in this event and will be delivering the workshop.

Legal Aid NSW provides specialised legal education sessions for young people and teachers that promote a better understanding of areas of the laws that affect them the most.

Your son will attend a workshop titled, Young People and Criminal Law, designed to give a practical understanding of the Children’s Criminal Law jurisdiction.

Based on syllabus outcomes for the Year 12 Legal Studies course, it covers the criminal jurisdiction of the Children’s Court, diversionary and sentencing options and current issues in the youth justice system.

The workshop will take place Tuesday August 13, from 2.25pm at Waverley Public Library.

Students will be walked to the venue with accompanying teachers after their period 5 lesson.

If you have any questions please be in contact.

Year 7 to 12 Interviews

The Year 9, 10 and 12 Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews will be held on Tuesday, 23 July and Year 7, 8 and 11 interviews will be held on Monday, 29 July. Interviews on both of these days will take place between 8.30am and 6.30pm.

All interviews will be held by Zoom and a video on how to set up a Zoom Meeting has been provided by IT here.

Bookings for these interviews can be made through the Parent Lounge in TASS. Bookings will open on Monday, 24 June at 9am and will close on Friday, 19 July at 3.30pm for Year 9, 10 and 12, and Friday, 26 July at 3.30pm for Year 7, 8 and 11.

There will be no classes or sport training for any Senior School students on either of these days.

A list of zoom account numbers will be sent by IT to all parents prior to the interview dates. This will usually be a day or two before the interviews. You do not need the zoom code to make your bookings.

In order to have staff available to as many families as possible, interviews will be of 5 minutes duration. To make the process as efficient as possible and to minimise lost time, we ask that you don’t make consecutive bookings and leave at least a five minute gap between your bookings to allow time to move between meetings with the teachers.

The following staff will not be available for interviews;

Tuesday, 23 July

Ms M. Joyce

Mr G. Kennedy

Ms F. O’Connor
