On Friday 16 August the Year 11 Studies of Religion II cohort participated in an Interfaith Depth Study Immersion.
The first session was dedicated to three workshops at the Sydney Jewish Museum. Here, the boys engaged in the Ethics and Othering Program related to the Holocaust, ongoing antisemitism and the effects still being experienced in contemporary society. They were then privileged to witness the account of a Holocaust survivor, their legacy and advice to future generations about the importance of non-violence, kindness and forgiveness.
The Jewish Immersion was consolidated by a guided tour of the Museum which explored historical events experienced by victims and survivors of the Holocaust and the atrocities they endured.
The second session was dedicated to visiting places of worship throughout Sydney’s CBD.
The boys were challenged with the Amazing G/Race.
They travelled in groups to places of worship including the Great Synagogue, St Mary’s Cathedral, St Patrick’s Church, St Andrew’s Cathedral and the Buddhist Centre where they were tasked with research and timed challenges.
Overall, it was a wonderful day spent with 130 boys and nine staff, ultimately enriching the boys in their knowledge of Sydney’s religious landscape and enhancing their understanding of the religious diversity on their doorstep!!

All interviews will be held by Zoom and a video on how to set up a Zoom Meeting has been provided by IT here.
Bookings for these interviews can be made through the Parent Lounge in TASS. Bookings will open on Monday, 24 June at 9am and will close on Friday, 19 July at 3.30pm for Year 9, 10 and 12, and Friday, 26 July at 3.30pm for Year 7, 8 and 11.

As we are well into Term 2, with a myriad of assignments well underway and preparations for the upcoming Trial and HSC exams already starting to take off, the senior library team have given the HSC resources section a much needed ‘face-lift’!
After looking at how to make the section more user friendly, in consultation with last year’s Year 12 students, we found that simple subject signage, instead of the traditional dewey system signs, would be easier to navigate.
Students are now able to see exactly where the study guides and past exam papers are for their selected subjects and in the case of Mathematics and English, sorted by strand as well, ensuring that they can find their chosen resources easier and quicker, with a few students saying that it is much more ‘practical’ and more ‘user friendly’ :)
We are constantly updating the section, adding new study resources regularly and we are always open to any recommendations!
We hope that this ‘revitalised’ resource section is of greater help for our senior students, with many borrowings ahead!
