With the exams now done and dusted, we have arranged for all year 7 students to return their textbooks and any outstanding english novels next week (starting 25 November) during designated class times.
As such, if you can please ensure that any books ‘hanging out’ at home are brought in then, that would be wonderful, but please rest assured that Book hire is open Monday-Friday 8am-4pm as well, in case a student is away the day their class is scheduled and is welcome to drop off the books beforehand or when back from camp.
As another option, books can be dropped off in the marked crates in the library and reception.
Thank you in advance for all your help and any questions, please feel free to contact me by sending an email to bookhire@waverley.nsw.edu.au

The results will also be utilised for ability grouping of students in Mathematics and to inform the composition of base classes. Our base classes include an enrichment stream, that groups students who are identified through Allwell as gifted and/or high potential learners, into classes that are designed to offer appropriate levels of extension.
Students are assessed in a series of tasks:
After the testing day you will be provided with a written report, summarising your son’s results. These results will be returned to the College a few weeks after the testing date.
How to prepare for the test?
There is no course material to study prior to the day. It is a measurement, identical to NAPLAN, to give the College a picture of how your son has progressed during Year 6. This Term Elevate Education delivers high-impact workshops to our students that help to develop their study skills, motivation, and exam preparation. Over the Term, you are invited to join their parent webinar series, where you can help support your child at home by reinforcing the skills they are learning at school.
Elevate Education’s free webinars for Term 2 will take place on the following Wednesdays:
Parents learn how to help their child revise effectively, prioritise high-impact work, and build good routines in the run up to exams.
Parents learn how to help their child manage stress and anxiety during exams, and how they can maximise marks in the exam room.

Dear Parents and Carers,
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a point in time assessment of literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. Students in Years 5, 7 and 9 participate in the annual NAPLAN tests in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
Our school will be participating in NAPLAN Online between 13 – 22 March 2024.
Years 5 and 7 students will sit their test in Periods 1-2 and Year 9 students will sit their test in Periods 3-4.
Students must bring their fully charged laptops and headphones to this session.
Excessive preparation for NAPLAN Online is not recommended. Students do not need to be able to touch type to complete NAPLAN Online as the tests are not about keyboard skills (just as the paper test is not about handwriting skills).
Students can use the Public Demonstration Site to familiarise themselves with the types of questions and tools available in the NAPLAN Online tests.
Please click on this link 2024 NAPLAN Online – Information for parents and carers sheet for further information.
If you have any questions regarding this practice test please contact either Ms Martina Cooper (Director of Curriculum), Mr David Parnell (Head of Learning Support) or Mr Elliott McKimm (Acting Assistant Director of Curriculum – Year 5 students).

Furthermore, if parents or carers are interested in learning about strategies to support their son through NAPLAN our Head of Academic Enrichment, Ms Helen Barrie has prepared this informative video:
