Rockhampton Pre-season Tour a Huge Success!
A 1st XI squad of 13 boys enjoyed the first week of the holidays touring Rockhampton, Queensland – winning two of three games and developing great relationships with each other and their hosts from Rockhampton Grammar school and Emmaus College.
Boys were challenged to set goals for themselves for ways to improve their approach to cricket and skills – with sustaining these over longer periods a strong focus.
There were two Twenty20 games, which saw a loss and win, as well as a strong outright victory on the 4th innings of the 2-day game v Rockhampton Grammar. Tom Andrianakos took 9 wickets for the week, including 5-31, while Mac Jenkins had the amazing figures of 7 wickets for just 10 runs in a strong 40 run win over Emmaus College. Year 9s Harry Whitaker with 51 not out and Alex Ferrara with 71 had great innings in the 2-day game and showed fantastic mental strength.
Away from the cricket, the boys had loads of laughs with the host families, continuing a great association that Waverley has shared with these schools from their many visits to Sydney.
