From the Captain of Tennis, Matija Hripac
Round 7 served as the first meet of the year. A home game against Cranbrook saw the 1sts off to a terrific start with the team winning all four doubles sets. They had a close victory by winning three of the singles sets and finishing with a score of 7 sets to 1 (46-23). The 2nds however weren’t as lucky as they were outmatched going down 6 sets to 2 (28-46). The stellar performance by Felix Kafka as he won in a tiebreaker was the highlight of the morning for the group.
There were many triumphs amongst all teams this week with the 4ths winning 4 sets to 2. The 5ths also had a victory at the last moment when they emerged victorious, winning by a single game. All senior boys played well this week to contribute to our overall score.
The Junior teams also showed off their strength against Cranbrook. Year 10’s proved to be a team to watch with the A’s winning 4 sets to 2. Harry Karakatsanis and Alistair Jensen who are undefeated in their doubles matches, also battled it out to win their singles in a tiebreaker. The Year 10 B’s also thrashed the opponent, winning 6 sets to none. In the C’s Vasilios Pairidis won his singles 6 sets to 2. The entire team should be commended for their efforts.
We look forward to another great match this week for Round 8 against Trinity.
