A Wet Start!

Unfortunately, we have had plenty of disruptions to start the season with the wet weather around. This does create a few headaches for coaching staff in trying to arrange and select teams.

It will take time for coaches to arrange teams. All coaches have been provided with information from the 2016 season (team lists), as well as photo lists to assist in identifying players.

The coaching staff will be using all GPS fixtures as genuine trial matches, with our focus on the CAS season which commences at the end of Term 2. Thank you for your support of our fantastic coaching staff.

CAS Sevens & Internal Trials

This Saturday (25th March) 15 players in each group will be involved in the CAS Sevens at various CAS venues across Sydney. Venues and playing times are listed below:

  • 13s selected team will be playing at St Aloysius’ (College Oval) from 9:00am – 11:00am.
  • 14s selected team will be playing at Barker College (Baker Oval) from 8:30am – 10:30am.
  • 15s selected team will be playing at Knox Grammar School (Gillespie Fields) from 12:30am-2:30pm.
  • 16s selected team will be playing at Trinity Grammar School (TGS 1 & TGS 3) from 8:00am – 10:00am.
  • Opens selected team will be playing at Queens Park from 1:00pm – 3:00pm.

Coaches will have informed players if they have gained selection in this side. Players involved are to be at each respective venue at least 30 minutes before kickoff.

All other players will be involved in Internal Trial matches at Queens Park. Players involved in trials are reminded that they need a Waverley jersey and a “Colour” (non-Waverley) jersey.

Cadet Camp

This weekend the Waverley College Cadet Unit heads to camp. Cadets involved in rugby in Years 9-12 will not be selected in the CAS Sevens teams, nor will they be required at Internal Trials on Saturday 25th March.

Students in Year 8 will be available for the Internal Trials as they will be heading to Cadet Camp on Sunday 26th March. They will, however, miss training throughout the camp week.

All cadets (Years 8-12) will be expected to play in the Riverview Trial fixture on Saturday 1st April, following the camp. Teams, as well as the playing fixtures, will be posted on noticeboards at cadet camp. Teams will also be posted for this round on the “Waverley Rugby Team App” (details below).

Team App

For those who are not aware, Waverley College Rugby has a Team App. This contains information including weekly draws, playing venues, team lists (updated weekly), gallery, news articles and live scores.

You can access the Team App at https://www.teamapp.com where you can simply search for “Waverley College Rugby” and request access.

You are also able to download the Team App to your iPhone/iPad/Smartphone device by going to the App Store and again search for “Team App” (created by Team Mates). Once downloaded to your device you can then search for “Waverley College Rugby” and request access. An admin (Waverley College Staff Member) will then be able to grant access.

Lost Property

Already, lost property is starting to pop up at the conclusion of trainings. Lost property will either be kept at the Queens Park Pavilion (top level) or taken up to the Waverley College Wellbeing Centre. I highly recommend all players label their kit with their name and a contact number, so any found items can be returned to the owners.

Good luck to all players involved in the CAS Sevens as well as players involved in Internal Trials.

WAVERLEY TO WIN!
