Sport Report: First round of CAS fixtures

Swimming Pool

From the Head of Senior Sport, Steve O’Donnell

Well done to all of our students involved in trials and fixtures last weekend. The standout was the outright win by the 1st XI Cricket side and the 109 scored by Mac Jenkins making him one of the youngest at 15 to score a century for Waverley in Cricket. Cricket is the sport that has been played the longest at the College so it is a huge effort. Our Water Polo teams also had some great results in their trials round last weekend and also begin their fixtures this week.

All of our sports and teams have their first round of CAS fixtures this weekend so it is essential that all boys know where they need to be. Training is now also underway so attendance and attire at training is also essential.

College Expectations

At the start of the season I would like to remind all boys and parents of some expectations. Team selections are fluid and are never set. There will always be disappointment with selections, however, good performances will result in consideration for promotion to a higher team. If there are any concerns or queries regarding selections, the correct procedure is to speak to the Convenor, the Director of Co-curriculum or myself. Speaking to coaches at trials, training or matches is not forum for this discussion.

Any absenteeism on a Saturday due to illness or injury requires a medical certificate. Leave requests need to be in writing two weeks, where possible, to the Head of College. Full sports attire is expected at all training and matches and boys are required to be at the venue for matches 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the match. Expectations and Codes of Conduct apply to all players, spectators and parents.
