From the Director of Curriculum, Elizabeth Watson
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide innovative and challenging experiences for our students, on Monday and Tuesday this week, the Fiftysix Creations team came and worked with all our Year 8 and Year 6 students on some interactive STEM projects.
These workshops gave students an insight into the world of computer science, creativity and entrepreneurship. They provided the students with the tools, resources and mindset to think creatively and build skills in critical thinking and collaboration.
The real world outcomes and objectives of these workshops are in line with the Australian Digital Technologies Curriculum as well as the NSW Syllabus for ICT Capability.
Our Year 8 students thoroughly enjoyed the sessions. They were actively engaged in the hands-on sessions where they explored, designed and built their own virtual reality headsets.
The Year 6 boys had the opportunity to work together and develop a good or service as well as be involved in a demonstration of robotics and holograms.
After a lesson on entrepreneurship, all students were then given the opportunity to pitch their own business or service, highlighting the social change it would bring. The experience empowered them to believe that they too, can change the world.
A great day had by all.
