From CAS U15s Touch Football coach, Rebecca Gair
The CAS Under 15s team began the day as strangers from three different schools and ended it as the champions of the Under 15s Inter Association Touch Gala Day. With minimal substitutions and games back to back the resilience and hard work paid off winning five out of their six games.
Highlights from the day included some fantastic combinations from the Trinity Grammar students Riley Large, Ky Willoughby, Blake Toohey and Zak Balzan. St Aloysius’ Braith Alexander was excellent not only in defense but directional play.
Waverley College’s Finn Filipek showed some excellent speed and agility scoring some great tries from mid field. The finishing from Daniel Besgrove was exceptional with some amazing diving tries. Riley Fitzroy’s speed was second to none, again finishing off some great tries. The leadership, teamwork and overall ability of this team was exceptional to not only coach but also to see this put into practice. Winning 8-0 against the NCIS and CSSA teams shows just how talented this CAS team is.
As coach of this team the stand out performance was from Trinity Grammar’s Riley Large who continually found the energy to grind during defense and produced some amazing attacking plays to ensure a CAS victory.
Congratulations to the boys on their outstanding effort not only winning the competition but also on the selection of Ky Willoughby, Riley Large, Blake Toohey, Braith Alexander and Daniel Besgrove into the CIS representative team. These young men should be commended on an outstanding performance throughout the day and their selection into a very competitive team.
