We hope you enjoyed your summer holidays and are staying happy, healthy and safe. The Health Centre decided it would be useful to send out some information on COVID-19 booster shots, and where you can get a booster shot for your third dose of the COVID-19 vaccination. This information can also be used for students who have not received their first two doses of the COVID-19 vaccinations.
A booster vaccination can be given 4 or more months after your first 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Studies show that the immunity created by COVID-19 vaccines begins to wane over time. A booster dose helps to strengthen your immune system and improve your long-term protection against serious illness from the COVID-19 virus.
The Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines are recommended as boosters in Australia. Although not preferred, the AstraZeneca vaccine can be given as a booster for those who are unable to have an mRNA vaccine for medical reasons.

We found the HotDoc app or website to be extremely useful in locating a booster shot appointment. It’s very straightforward. You simply type in your suburb or postcode, then the app finds a list of places where you can book an appointment for the booster dose. In most areas, there are appointments available from the same day.
