Will Cooley racing
Over the New Year, Year 9 student Will Cooley representing the NSW Youth Sailing Team competed in the Australian Laser Sailing Championship at Adelaide, South Australia.
The regatta attracted 210 boats and skippers competing across three divisions, with Will competing in the Laser 4.7 youth division.
Over the seven days racing weather was a mixed bag of very light to strong wind, with temperatures ranging from 25-40 degrees, making for a hot and challenging regatta for sailors.
2016 Olympic sailing gold medallist Tom Burton was on hand to present trophies and congratulate the sailors, which was one of the highlights for the sailors.
After 11 races over seven days sailing, Will finished 1st Under 16 sailor; and 5th place overall, with the top 4 places going to under 18’s.
