From Geography Teacher, Brad Thompson
Sydney’s Northern Beaches and the Biophysical Environment of Coastal Zones
Despite the grey skies and wet conditions last week, the Year 11 Geography class had a productive and educationally beneficial field trip to Sydney’s northern beaches as part of their study of the Biophysical Environment of Coastal Zones.
After a presentation at the Coastal Environment Center, Narrabeen, students braved the fresh conditions for some ‘hands on’ experience and a view from atop Narrabeen Head. The class then adjourned to the North Narrabeen Beach SLSC (due to the rain) for discussions of topography and beach management.
The day ended with a visit to Collaroy Beach where students observed the aftermath of last year’s destructive weather conditions and learnt about management strategies used in the area.
