From the House Co-ordinator, Richard Moylette
Last week the College hosted the Year 8 House Futsal competition. The competition took place at lunchtime in the Birrell Street Basketball courts and the final was played in the school gymnasium. The event had great interest and the Year 8 students turned out in big numbers to represent their Houses.
The quarter finals kicked off with old rivalries to the fore as Brennan got the nod over Aungier; Conlon were victorious against Green; O’Connor took the spoils against Lacey; and Tevlin outclassed Quinn.
The semi finals were a closer affair as each team gave it their all to make Friday’s Grand Final. This time it was Brennan and Tevlin that emerged victorious and had the great honour to take the field in the College’s new state of the art gymnasium.
Friday lunchtime finally arrived and both sides took the field. Julian Imvriotis from Year 12 and a member of the College’s First XI was in charge in the centre. He was ably assisted by his two linesmen, Liam Preston and Jay Whitehead.
The first half was tight as both sides took a cautious approach to the game and the score at the half way mark was 1 -1. The second half opened up as both teams went for the win and it was Tevlin that took full advantage of the more expansive game. The game ended 5 -1 to Tevlin and they were deserved winners in the end. The Brennan boys gave a great account of themselves and their heads were held high after the final.
Well done to the boys in Tevlin, especially Captain Alex Talbot and Krispin Tomac for his best on ground display in the final.
