Years 5-12 Scientists of Waverley Competition

It's Science Week and Year 7 learned how to make 'Elephant's Toothpaste' with Ms Schoenmaker. Elephant’s toothpaste is an exothermic reaction - a reaction that releases heat energy. It is the decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide into Water and Oxygen using yeast. When you add detergent the water foams up and makes a toothpaste looking foam which is warm to touch.

Science Week 2022

The Science Department are excited to announce the Waverley Scientists of Science Week Competition!

Students from Years 5-12 are asked to record themselves undertaking an experiment at home and explaining the scientific concept behind it in a fun and engaging way.

Prizes will be awarded to a winners from both the Junior and Senior Campus.

Video Requirements

  • Between 30 seconds to 1 minute 30 seconds in length
  • Shot in portrait orientation, not landscape
  • Be fun and engaging
  • Be appropriate for sharing on the Waverley College social media pages
  • Emailed to Ms Pace by 5pm Sunday, 20 August 2o23.
