From the Head of Drama, Alison Jinga
On the first day back of term, Tuesday 18 July, Zeal Theatre came to our school to perform a play called “The Stones”.
“The Stones” is about two boys who are charged with manslaughter after killing a motorist by kicking rocks from a freeway overpass. Are they responsible for their actions? Premiering in 1996, with over 1300 performances worldwide and translated in over 30 countries, this classic play about youth crime and punishment engaged, enthralled and excited our Year 8 audience.
After the performance the students returned to normal classes but came back down to the Performing Arts Centre to participate in a Drama workshop. It was a fabulous experience and I believe the timing of the workshop and performance was perfect since the Year 8 students are currently choosing their electives for next year. I encourage any students who enjoyed the experience to choose Drama next year.
I am available for any questions regarding the course at any time.
