We are thrilled to announce that despite numerous challenges such as material shortages, shipment delays, and production issues, we finally have the pavers onsite. We are optimistic that the pavers will be laid by mid to late August.
As communicated a few weeks ago, we will be organising a paver unveiling event with complimentary food and drinks for everyone who has purchased a paver and their families. We will confirm the date with you in the coming weeks.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has purchased a paver, as your support is invaluable in helping us achieve our fundraising goals.
If you would like to leave a lasting legacy at Waverley College, there are still pavers available for purchase.
All purchases are tax-deductible and will directly support the construction of our state-of-the-art Science and Innovation Centre.
This facility will place Waverley College at the forefront of science and technology education, providing our students with unparalleled opportunities to excel in STEM fields.
Thank you for your continued support.
The weather has been a very unfortunate theme this term and we finished the term with a number of washouts. We did play a few fixtures including a hearbreaking loss to Cranbrook in both 1sts Football and 1sts Volleyball, however, our 1sts, 2nds, 3rds and 16A’s rugby all had excellent wins. Despite the weather we had a hardy number of supporters at these fixtures and a big thank you to those parents and students that came to support. I also just want to remind all of our community of processes around any complaints at any co-curricular fixture. Parents and supporters should not be contacting opposition schools directly but should be coming through the College’s leadership Team instead and we will contact the opposition school on your behalf to ensure the complaint is directed to the correct personnel for an appropriate response.
A massive congratulations to James Peate on his victory in the NSW Public Speaking Championships. James will now represent the College at the National titles in Hobart early next term. Thank you also to the students and staff that supported James and this is the first time a Waverley student has won this prestigious event.

The weather had another significant impact on the first full round of fixtures last weekend and has been an unfortunate theme this term. We were still able to play a few fixtures with the 1sts and 2nds Football and the 16A’s, 2nds and 1st XV Rugby playing their fixtures against St Aloysius. The 2nd XI Football result of 7-1 was certainly a highlight of the weekend.
Congratulations to Evan Rowbowtham (Year 9) who continues to perform at the highest levels with his victory in the NSWCIS Cross Country trials. We wish him well for the next round of racing at the State Championships.
We have a number of our Debating teams that have progressed through to the final rounds of the CSDA finals this week, as well as a couple automatically qualifying for the quarter finals next week. We wish these teams well! Please come and support the Year 12 group on Friday at 5.30pm in the College Library.
I had the pleasure of attending the 2024 Cadet Unit passing out parade and Dining In Night on Sunday. Congratulations to all award winners and the graduating cohort of the unit, and a huge congratulations to Maj. Julie-Anne De Kantzow, Lt. Jessica Stanley and all of the Cadet Unit staff on an excellent event.
We have a big round of fixtures this weekend against local rivals Cranbrook. This is always a competitive round but I also want to remind all students, parents and spectators of the CAS and College Codes of Conduct and expectations around behaviour, respect and correct attire. We would expect any member of our community in attendance at any fixture on the weekend to represent the College to the highest standards.

The Year 9, 10 and 12 Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews will be held on Tuesday, 23 July and Year 7, 8 and 11 interviews will be held on Monday, 29 July. Interviews on both of these days will take place between 8.30am and 6.30pm.
All interviews will be held by Zoom and a video on how to set up a Zoom Meeting has been provided by IT here.
Bookings for these interviews can be made through the Parent Lounge in TASS. Bookings will open on Monday, 24 June at 9am and will close on Friday, 19 July at 3.30pm for Year 9, 10 and 12, and Friday, 26 July at 3.30pm for Year 7, 8 and 11.
There will be no classes or sport training for any Senior School students on either of these days.
A list of zoom account numbers will be sent by IT to all parents prior to the interview dates. This will usually be a day or two before the interviews. You do not need the zoom code to make your bookings.
In order to have staff available to as many families as possible, interviews will be of 5 minutes duration. To make the process as efficient as possible and to minimise lost time, we ask that you don’t make consecutive bookings and leave at least a five minute gap between your bookings to allow time to move between meetings with the teachers.
The following staff will not be available for interviews;
Tuesday, 23 July
Ms M. Joyce
Mr G. Kennedy
Ms F. O’Connor
Monday, 29 July

Dear Parents and Carers,
As your sons will be entering Year 9 next year, for the first time they will have some choice over their pattern of study for Years 9 and 10.
Over Years 9 and 10, apart from the mandatory subjects, the students study two additional subjects commonly referred to as electives.
You can view the Stage 5 Subject Selection Information Booklet for 2025/26 on the Curriculum page of the College website. The booklet provides outlines on the pattern of study that the students undertake over Years 9 and 10, including the elective subjects available.
On Tuesday, 25 June (Week 9), students and parents will have the opportunity to attend subject selection presentations in Kenny Classrooms from 6pm-7pm where they will learn more about courses in which they are interested and can ask Heads of Department or delegates any questions. Venues will be confirmed closer to the date.
The subject selection process will be completed online early next term. Details on how to do this process will be sent out closer to the time.
The most important thing is that the students are selecting elective subjects that they will enjoy. These are important decisions to make as they will influence the staffing and resourcing decisions the College has to make for the 2025 timetable.
Mr Chris Soden
Assistant Director of Curriculum
csoden@waverley.nsw.edu.au
In collaboration with Waverley Council and Legal Aid NSW, a Consent Workshop will be held for Year 12 leaders in the College library on Monday, 17 June during Period 6.
Any other year 12 students who would also wish to attend are most welcome to.
The workshop will be run by a Legal Aid solicitor, and will cover legal definitions of sexual consent, offences relating to non-consent, as well as ethical consent frameworks.
The session will include case studies, videos and interactive quizzes, aimed at helping students to know their rights, understand their responsibilities and give them referral options if they need help.
The process for Stage 6 subject selection has already commenced this term.
Appropriate subject selection for study in Stage 6 is of great importance as it directly leads to the awarding of the Higher School Certificate.
To that end, we aim to provide a clear, thorough and supportive process in the lead up to these selections so that students may make informed decisions about their courses of study for their senior years. We advise students to select subjects in which there is the greatest aptitude, interest and ability in order to achieve the best possible result and the most satisfaction.
As outlined in the Year 10 Information Evening in Term 1, students are supported in the subject selection during the Term 2 activities in the Careers and Wellbeing periods that are scheduled every Wednesday, Week A, Period 1. During these periods, Heads of Department presentations will run in Weeks 5, 7 and 9 to assist students’ decision making.
Semester 1 is an important period for feedback where assessment task results will be closely reviewed in conjunction with the Career Profiling tests conducted in Term 1 and Allwell Test results which the students sat on 15 May. Students’ achievement levels in these will influence which courses they will be eligible to select.
Attached to this letter are two documents which are also available on the College Website:
These should be read in conjunction with all of the opportunities for discussion and advice available to each and every student. Students will not be asked to submit their initial selections until early Term 3 after the Parent/Teacher Interviews.
The College uses an online system for the students to nominate their subject selections for Stage 6.
Students will receive an email with a link and a password to access the system in early July. They must complete their subject selections online, print the confirmation and submit this in hard copy form via the box outside the office of Ms Ozdirik – EA to the Director of Curriculum, on Level 1 by Thursday 8th August.
