Week 3 of Winter Activities

Well done to all students, staff and coaches on a full round of winter activities last weekend.

Debating

Our Debating Teams performed very well at Loreto Kirribilli last Friday evening with some excellent arguments presented by all teams. Our Debating Teams are at home this Friday evening against our sister school St Clare’s College, and I am sure all students will be exceptionally courteous and respectful.

Tennis, AFL and Football

Our 1st IV Tennis also had a terrific win last weekend against Knox and are only getting better, as well as our 1sts AFL and 1sts Football also securing impressive victories.

Congratulations

Well done to Marko Rangan (Year 11) on his selection for NSWCIS Basketball this week.

Co-curricular Expectations

This week, we are home to local rivals Cranbrook in Football and Tennis, as well as the Shore School in Rugby. I would like to remind all member of the College community of some important points:

  • Inappropriate, foul and abusive language will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and officials can terminate a match resulting in a forfeit
  • All students must be fully attired in Waverley College playing attire or College Academic Uniform at all sporting venues
  • Any student who is sick or injured must communicate this to the Convenor of his activity, and a medical certificate is required

1st XI Football

Our 1st XI Football played their next round of the CIS Independent cup this week against Mamre Anglican School. Despite a great effort and with a number of players out sick and injured, the Waverley team were defeated 1-4. Well done to these boys, and the coaches, and we can now keep focusing on the CAS season ahead.

CIS Hockey and Rugby League

We also have a number of boys trialling this week for CIS Hockey and Rugby League. I want to wish these boys well, but also highlight that your schoolwork and assessments are the priority if there are any clashes.

Good luck to all teams this week!
