White Ribbon Day – a note of congratulations from the Navy

Waverley students with Command Warrant Officer of the Fleet of the Australian Navy, Stephen Downey.

Teacher Kaitlyn Downey sent us this lovely note after her Dad had a chance meeting with our students at the White Ribbon Day March…

“Not many of you know this but my dad is the Command Warrant Officer of the Fleet of the Australian Navy, Stephen Downey. He was down at the White Ribbon Walk this morning with the Admiral, representing the Navy’s stance on domestic violence.

“My dad wanted me to pass on to you how impressed he was with all the Waverley boys at the White Ribbon Walk this morning. He was impressed by how they presented themselves and ‘what a nice bunch of young men’ they are. He said how great it is to see our young men out supporting such a great initiative and that we have a lot to be proud of.

“He also managed to photobomb the boys, so keep an eye on on the next ‘Navy News’ as this photo is likely to get a run!”
