From the Director of Learning, Elizabeth Watson

On Tuesday this week, Waverley College hosted the Eastern Region schools for the WorldSkills Australia Inter School Competition – Commercial Cookery.

WorldSkills Cookery Competition, August 2017

It was a a fun filled, action packed day run in the style of a Masterchef competition. Dominic Augoustis and Liam Flanagan (Year 11) represented the College and both plated up delicious meals.

Dominic took out third place which is a terrific result given the strong field of competitors. The industry judges were extremely impressed with the high calibre dishes, professional work ethic and, dare I say, the “exceptional knife skills”!

A very big thank you to Stephanie Boyce for coordinating this fabulous day. She worked tirelessly to make sure that competitors, judges and guests were looked after throughout the day.

Thank you also to the TAS Department and Kath Knowles for all the behind the scenes preparation.
